I’m Thankful that Clinton is Gone and George Bush is Our President!

By Darth Reagan

As one of my favorite holidays passes by I want to take a moment to express some well deserved thanks. First of all, I’d like to thank my family for always being here for me no matter the circumstances. Also, I’d like to thank my friends for being, well, such great friends. I’d also like to thank all of the brave men and women in our Armed Forces for fighting so courageously for our freedom and safety. And to the families of the soldiers for raising such courageous sons and daughters, Thank You. Last but not least, I’d like to thank our President for his steadfast leadership and absolute trust in Americans.

It was only 8 years ago that we endured the leadership of a person by the name of Bill Clinton. During his tenure many left leaning citizens believed that all was right in the world under his leadership. Can’t we all remember, “It’s the economy Stupid” or “When Clinton Lied, Nobody Died”?....Clinton sat on a growing economy and an “over exuberant” stock market…Life was perfect and Clinton was the reason…Or at least, that is what he would tell us…Yes, he would actually stand up and take credit for an economy that was soaring. But like so many times in life, we find that while the good times roll, the major problems are simply growing under the shroud of success…In short, Clinton did nothing while the following problems evolved.

While the economy boomed Clinton sat back, smiled and took all of the credit. All the while, the leaders of many Fortune 500 companies followed Clinton as morally deficient leaders. Who can forget Enron…Adelphia…WorldCom…and Tyco? While they basked in 20% returns the leadership of these companies was following in the footsteps of Clinton…“It’s the stock price stupid”…The result was a litany of lawsuits and scandals in early 2000 which Mr. Bush had to quickly deal with…Throw in the accounting fraud and you saw company after company revising their earnings…The result, very simply, stock prices plummeted because they were never true valuations in the first place; they were fabrications, much like Clinton’s legacy.

More importantly, we had the issue of terrorism presenting itself at home and abroad. U.S. Embassy’s, U.S. Warships and even the World Trade Center were all bombed in the name of Islamic Jihad….All shuffled under the carpet as costs of doing business…. By all means, “It’s the economy stupid”…Clinton was still the man…or so we would think from reading our media coverage…Ironically, he didn’t even have the leverage to push Al Gore through to victory. Talk about something to be thankful for!

So, in 2000 with recession currently underway and Mr. Bush in office it was time for him to go to work. He dealt with the corporate malfeasance, he cut taxes and sent everyone a check; yes, everyone! How quickly we forget sometimes. We were rolling toward recovery…Until 9/11…After that date, everything in our lives changed but Mr. Bush stayed strong and told us that ‘we’ will prevail. We went on the offensive immediately without a world wide “listening tour” as the democratic leadership requested.

Here we are in 2005, 4 years removed from 9/11 and we are experiencing the following successes. Best economy in two decades, more housing starts than any time in our history, more people own homes than any time in history, inflation is low, the Dow is at a 4 year high (with real valuations unlike the Clinton years), graduation rates are up, dropout rates are down, crime is down and unemployment is down! With all of this success one thing is noticeably absent…The sound of our president taking all of the credit. Instead, we hear him giving Americans credit for staying the course, for working hard and for driving our economy. It’s never I with Mr. Bush, it’s always we. That’s refreshing, that’s true leadership and I’m thankful for George W. Bush.

Lastly, is he perfect? No, but who is? But we have all been safe in our country since 9/11 and I’m thankful for that…again, you’ve never heard President Bush mention that fact because it’s not his style…But I’ll mention it and I’ll also say “Thank You”.
